Ascona – Locarno – Bellinzona
Back to Switzerland and affective memories, most of the images are old.
In the years 90, in addition to working as a photographer, did lighting for theater. In 1996 I had the opportunity to participate in this festival. The Switzerland was the first foreign country I’ve ever met. We stayed a week in Ascona and every day visiting nearby cities.
This first contact with architecture, language and culture different from mine, influenced me a lot, even today. Attention, cities, streets, have Italian names but all speak German. The packaging, posters, were written in four languages: German, French, Italian and Romandie. Today the packs are written only in German!
Best record of Locarno, this building, on the climb to Madonna del Sasso.
Bellinzona is known as the Italian town of Switzerland by its geographical position, in the canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland and proudly boasts its magnificent medieval castles: Castelo Grande, Montebello e Sasso Corbaro.
There is a large underground parking and going for it, you take an elevator that leads up to the Castle Large.
How were the Romans to realize the strategic importance of the site, they also were the first to build here a castle, in the 1st century AD in the middle ages, it was expanded, becoming a large and impregnable fortress.
Due to its location, Bellinzona was always a bone of contention between the Dukes of Milan and the Swiss. In 1516 the city became part of the Federation Switzerland.
Vista do Castelo Montebello / View of the Castle Montebello.
The Church the right image, marks the starting point of the hiking trails of the Castle Montebello and Castle di Sasso Corbato. Climb the wall and see the Castle Grande, which by the way, is far more interesting seen from above. Castle Montebello is 90 meters taller than the CastleGrande, which makes a big difference in view!
Comparative images of 1996 left and 2015 on the right. Focus the eye on the difference of the parking lot, native forest and in the secluded tree.
