On the road from Lake St. Moritz, we stop in Sils, to rest from the long journey.

The village has two names Sils Segl in German and Romansh.

Surprise, when leaving a painter, working on your screen. Writers, painters and musicians such as Nietzsche, Beuys and David Bowie let yourself be inspired by the wonderful landscapes and the magical light of the place.

Ficamos dois dias, em Samedan, na casa de amigos que não víamos à 30 anos. Percebendo meu gosto por fotografia, S. foi um ótimo guia de turismo, nos vilarejos que visitamos.
We stayed two days in Samedan, with friends we haven’t seen for 30 years. Realizing my taste for photography, S. was a great tour guide, in the villages we visited.

Um pouco de história: o turismo de verão já era bastante conhecido quando, no outono de 1864, o hoteleiro Johannes Bradutt apostou, com 4 hóspedes ingleses, que mesmo no inverno eles poderiam aproveitar o terraço do hotel em mangas de camisa, caso contrário, Bradutt arcaria com os custos da viagem. Os ingleses, acostumados com invernos frios e úmidos, não acreditaram que o inverno nos Alpes Suíços poderia ser diferente. No entanto, chegaram a St. Mortiz no período de Natal e só voltaram depois da Páscoa, bronzeados, descansados e felizes. Os primeiros turistas de inverno dos Alpes descobriram um novo mundo: o das férias de esqui, nascendo assim, o turismo de inverno nos Alpes, que completou 150 anos em dezembro de 2014.
A little history: the summer tourism was already well known when, in the autumn of 1864, the hotelier Johannes Bradutt bet, with 4 English guests, that even in winter they could take advantage of the hotel’s terrace in shirt-sleeves, otherwise Bradutt would be charged with the costs of the trip. The British, used to cold winters and moist, didn’t believe that winter in the Swiss Alps could be different. However, they came to St. Moritz in the Christmas period and only came back after Easter, Tan, rested and happy. The first winter of the Alps tourists have discovered a new world: the ski vacation, being born so, winter tourism in the Alps which completed 150 years in December 2014.
The Piz Bernina separates two glacier valleys, the Tschierva glacier to the West and the Morteratsch Glacier to the East. The waters flowing on both sides of the Mountain ending up in the river Ene.
You don’t have to understand German to realize that the forecast is not good.
The Albula/Bernina railway with 130 Km, forms the heart of the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites, being regarded as one of the most spectacular routes in the world.
Since 1956 the cable car passes over the street and the Bernina station to almost 3,000 m. We end station Diavolezza.
From this point, long walk and climb to one of the local mountains.
