Pedra da Gávea – Trail
The Pedra da Gávea trail is the most challenging one in the city, however managing to reach the summit is gratifying. It is the most enigmatic mountain in the city with its imposing human face shape.
How to get: through the south area – go by São Conrado to the way of Barra da Tijuca, as soon as you leave the tunnel, turn right and go ahead, there are indicative plaques on how to get to the park.
Its trail is the longest and most difficult, averaging about 3 hours walking up to the summit. They are 800 meters to be beaten.
In the middle of the way, there can be seen some part of Barra da Tijuca down.
During the hike both sunny and cloudy weather alternated.
Heavy and long, the trail’s critical point is the infamous “carrasqueira”, a great rocky wall, almost straight that can be transposed with the help feet, hands or ropes.
In fact, what has to be beaten is the fear. In the end … everyone manages to cross it, everyone helps each other.
By side: Pedra da Gávea, known as the “Gateway”.
At the summit at last … thew! But cloudy sky!
